A clumsy drug deal gone bad in Mexico’s borough of Venustiano Carranza led police to witness two men exchanging a bag of marijuana with another man, and the discovery and confiscation of 278 boxes containing 2780 iPhones, worth at least $1.5 million dollars and 800,000 in cash.

When the Mexican “Stan and Ollie” realized that police saw the exchange both fled the scene, but police were able to arrest one of them.

If the leaders of California “La Resistance” against President Trump’s immigration removals of criminal convicted aliens were hoping to score a quick legal victory in the courtroom of U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick, they came short of victory, since he has turned down a request from the State of California to put an immediate stop to enforcement of a key part of the Trump administration policy aimed at punishing so-called sanctuary cities and other jurisdictions seeking to protect undocumented immigrants.

Judge Orrick said many of the legal issues made it clear that “the California government has not demonstrated forcefully” why a preliminary injunction blocking the Justice Department from using the two decades old law known as Section 1373 to deny certain federal grants to localities and states seen to be in violation of the federal law should be granted.

At the height of a vicious storm in Brisbane severe storms left 130,000 south-east homes in darkness on Sunday night, with more than 500 power lines brought down in high winds and 265,000 lightning strikes recorded.

More than 45,000 homes are still without power and Logan City remains the worst affected with more than 36,000 households and businesses still impacted.  

“They are hit and miss … we saw some more widespread storms yesterday and today we’re still expecting a number of storms about,” Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Michael Paech said.
