The US says more than 1.7 million migrants were detained along its border with Mexico in the past 12 months – the highest number ever recorded, with more than one million of them were expelled to Mexico or their native countries, according to data from US Customs and Border Protection. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported a day earlier that Sukhoi Su-27 fighters had been scrambled to intercept and accompany French Rafale and Mirage-2000 jets, as well as a French Air Force C-135 refueling aircraft, as they flew over the Black Sea. Two French warplanes and a tanker refueler were tracked by a pair of Russian fighters last week as they flew over international airspace in the Black Sea.
