DENVER — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested an unlawfully present Honduran man charged with sexual assault on a child at Denver International Airport Sept. 4.

In February, Celin Villeda-Orellana, 33, was arrested by the Denver Police Department for sex assault on a child and ICE lodged an immigration detainer Feb. 11 with the Denver Justice Center. The document requested the DJC hold Villeda-Orellana briefly until ICE officers could pick him up prior to any planned release. DJC declined the detainer Feb. 21 and Villeda was released back into the community to reoffend.

“A man charged with hurting a child in such a heinous manner has been released from the Denver Justice Center and was found at the airport. How is it justice to the victims to release these types of criminals to the streets?” said John Fabbricatore, field office director, ERO Denver.

“It is unconscionable to allow people like Villeda to be released and not honor our detainer while he potentially reenters the community to harm another child.”
Villeda was found Thursday at DIA and was arrested as part of Operation Noble Guardian.

No vaccine has yet completed clinical trials, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) – leading some scientists to fear the search for a vaccine is being politicized, and public trust could be damaged.

“Together, these nine companies have collectively developed more than 70 novel vaccines that have helped to eradicate some of the world’s most complex and deadly public health threats,” the statement added, as nearly 180 vaccine candidates are being tested around the world, according to the WHO.

Gareth David Long, 41, of Las Vegas, Nevada, was sentenced to serve 70 months in prison for running a scheme to steal millions of dollars from hundreds of thousands of consumers, the Department of Justice announced.

Long was sentenced by Judge Andrew Gordon of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada as a result of his Nov. 5, 2019, guilty plea to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft charges in connection with the scheme that he operated.  As part of his guilty plea, Long admitted that he created and deposited checks drawn on the checking accounts of more than 375,000 victims without authorization during a six-month period in 2013.  Although Long had no authorization to charge the victims’ accounts, he represented to victims’ banks that the victims had authorized the debits.  When victims called to complain about the charges, Long instructed employees working for him to tell the victims that they had authorized the charges in connection with an online payday loan application.  Many of the victims were elderly.  Long used the proceeds of this scheme to purchase a ranch and 23 acres of land in Texas, three airplanes, cars, a fire truck, and construction and farm equipment, as well as to pay other personal expenses:

“The defendant exploited his access to sensitive personal and financial information to steal millions of dollars from victims throughout the United States. The Department of Justice is committed to protecting the public from such identity theft and fraud”, said Jody Hunt, Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department’s Civil Division.

His statue, outside Wisconsin’s State Capitol in Madison, was defaced with graffiti that read, “Fire Matt Kenny”, referring to the white police officer who shot and killed black 19-year-old Tony Robinson in Wisconsin in 2015.
