British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is in good spirits but remains in a stable condition in intensive care as he battles coron-virus, 10 Downing Street said, and Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab expects Prime Minister Johnson to return to his role in short order,  now in stable condition, but remains in intensive care and has received standard oxygen treatment, breathing on his own, without the use of a ventilator.

Mr. Johnson, 55, was transferred into the intensive care unit on Monday night when his condition worsened, and he had trouble breathing, as members of the Royal family including the Queen had sent messages of support to his family, and pregnant fiancee Carrie Symonds.

Mr. Johnson’s spokesman said 10 Downing Street had been honest about the prime minister’s condition.

Death rates go up with age in both men and women, but men tend to outstrip women across the ages.

There are breads of all shapes and sizes the world over — from flats and soda breads to buns, baguettes and boules, tinned loaves, crackers, plaits and sticks, baked with a griddle, in a Dutch oven or on a stone, and now, when the humanity is literally locked in the house, and tired of watching “Fake News” spitting 24/7 never ending statistics of COVID-19 death and infections, why not do something that is not only deeply rewarding, but also breathing a whiff of ancient freshly baked bread, right here, in your private world for all to enjoy.

Different ethnic group have their favorites, as the Jewish communities eat unleavened bread, or matzo, at the Passover. It’s flour and water, mixed and baked in under 20 minutes to prevent the dough from fermenting, and the ancient Greeks also made unleavened breads until about the last century BC, when leavens were introduced, and wheat flour replaced barley meal.

Asian chapatis and rotis and other Middle Eastern flatbreads, such as an Egyptian aiysh, Palestinian shrak, Syrian aiysh shami or Turkish pide are variations of the same, often wholemeal, bread that’s used for scooping up saucy food. Some use leaven; others do just fine without. They are fast-action, practical breads. 

For those short on time, you can use baking soda. That’s a chemical compound of sodium bicarbonate mixed with potassium bitartrate, or cream of tartar,A sourdough starter is not to be mistaken (as it often is) for the leaven, or mother, sponge, or levain. That’s more a second stage, a descendant of the starter. You take a scoop from your starter and add it to another flour and water mixture when you prepare the dough for a new loaf. (DW)

Army researchers at Fort Detrick in Maryland are now testing a new, potential COVID-19 corona-virus vaccine on animals, and the Pentagon said that researchers at the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious diseases have started testing the vaccine prototype on primates, and it is currently involved in five clinical vaccine trials for COVID-19. Air Force Brig. Gen. Dr. Paul Friedrichs, joint staff surgeon for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, clarified Monday that the goal is “still months away, not weeks away”, from a vaccine, and one treatment undergoing of trials is hydroxychloroquine, an antiparasitic that can be used to treat malaria in addition to lupus and arthritis. Hydroxychloroquine has been touted by US President Trump in recent weeks as being greatly effective against the virus. So far, evidence that the drug works to treat COVID-19 is mostly anecdotal, although a study by French researchers released last month found that the drug is effective in some cases.
