UK researchers are particularly concentrated on the Е484К mutation to the spike protein, present in a new variant of COVID-19, fearing it may prove resistant to certain vaccines, and planning to attack and study it through surge testing, while another branch of the mutated COVID19 tree has been found in the UK ,citing researchers from the University of Edinburgh, code named B1525, detected through genome sequencing in at least 10 countries, with the first sequences emerging as early as December and are said to have cropped up in the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

B1525 is similar in its genome to the Kent variant, or B117 – first identified in southeast England, and now present in more than 80 countries around the world, currently estimated to between 30 and 70 percent more lethal and between 35 and 45 percent more transmissible than the original virus.

Hines, 29, of Miami, pleaded guilty today for fraudulently obtaining approximately $3.9 million in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans and using those funds, in part, to purchase a $318,000 Lamborghini sports car for himself, as authorities seized the car and $3.4 million from the bank accounts of at the time of his arrest. Hines pleaded guilty today to one count of wire fraud and is scheduled to be sentenced on April 14.

As part of his guilty plea, he admitted that he fraudulently sought millions of dollars in PPP loans through applications to an insured financial institution on behalf of different companies, and caused to be submitted fraudulent loan applications that made numerous false and misleading statements about the companies’ respective payroll expenses. The financial institution approved and funded approximately $3.9 million in PPP loans.

The researchers estimate it to be around 18,000 years old. Their findings were published Wednesday in the journal Science Advances.

Even though overall infection numbers in the country are declining, concern is rising about new COVID19 mutations coming from abroad, hence the leaders of Germany’s 16 states and the federal government have agreed to extend shutdown measures until at least March 7, given that schools and hairdressers can open before that.

The current shutdown began in November and it was extended and hardened before Christmas, with the number of COVID-19 patients threatening to overwhelm hospitals, but a draft statement stated that Germany had made progress in curbing the rate of infection, with Saxony State Premier Michael Kretschmer said the relaxation of restrictions would be discussed when the seven-day case index drops below 35 cases per 100,000:

“We will talk about that in March. Everyone should remain cautious: We don’t want to be careless,” Kretschmer said.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A 22-year-old Houston man, identified as Maksim Klopovs admitted that he was to be paid for picking up a large load of electronics originally set for delivery to a college in Corpus Christi, after the shipment left the warehouse in Illinois, someone changed the delivery instructions using an online system, and rather than deliver it directly to Del Mar College, the shipping company was asked to hold the load at their Corpus Christi warehouse for pickup.

Klopovs is scheduled to be sentenced on April 6, facing up to 10 years in federal prison and a possible $250,000 maximum fine.

The US has increased its efforts in detecting new COVID-19 mutations in this country, and the White House coronavirus task force believes another highly infectious variant of the coronavirus may have evolved in the United States, according to a document that was sent out to other members of our union, with the new strain is already surging in our communities alongside the variant first detected in the United Kingdom and could be 50 percent more transmissible, the rate of infection almost double the number registered during spring and summer:

“This acceleration suggests there may be a USA variant that has evolved here, in addition to the UK variant that is already spreading in our communities and may be 50% more transmissible,” the report said.
“Aggressive mitigation must be used to match a more aggressive virus; without uniform implementation of effective face masking (two or three ply and well-fitting) and strict social distancing, epidemics could quickly worsen as these variants spread and become predominant.”

According to the data of Johns Hopkins University, the US is seeing at least around 228,000 new COVID-19 cases every day, accompanied by at least 2,700 deaths related to the virus per day.
