A Jordanian national who was sentenced to prison in Israel after admitting he acted at the direction of a terrorist organization to detonate a roadside bomb in an attempt to blow up a civilian bus in Israel was ordered today to serve a nine-month prison sentence for lying to immigration authorities to obtain U.S. citizenship and, as a result of his conviction, will be deported to Jordan.

Vallmoe Shqaire, 51, of Downey, an admitted member of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, pleaded guilty on January 14 to unlawfully procuring U.S. citizenship. As a consequence of his conviction, Shqaire was denaturalized, and he agreed to be removed to Jordan upon the completion of his prison sentence.

The case is the result of an extensive investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) National Security/Counterterrorism Division, Los Angeles.

Shqaire was convicted in Israel of numerous violent felonies, including charges related to his role in the failed plot to bomb an Israeli bus and for assaulting persons suspected of cooperating with the Israeli authorities.

A Salvadoran fugitive and known MS-13 gang member wanted for aggravated homicide in his home country, identified as Victor Manuel Campos Cruz, 27, was flown from George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, to the Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport in San Salvador, El Salvador, on a charter flight coordinated by ICE’s Air Operations Unit.

“Identifying and removing foreign fugitives from the United States is an ICE priority,” said ICE Field Office Director Patrick Contreras, with the Houston office of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO)

“The ongoing cooperation between the United States and Salvadoran governments resulted in this foreign fugitive being safely returned to his home country where he will stand trial for his alleged crimes.”

ERO arrested 158,581 aliens, 90 percent of whom had criminal convictions, pending criminal charges, or previously issued final orders.

A Salvadoran man was indicted Wednesday for illegally re-entering the United States after having been previously deported.

Jose Eduardo Melara-Carcamo, 33, was named in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury on April 17 charging him with illegal re-entry of a deported alien.

According to court documents, on March 20, 2019, Melara-Carcamo was arrested for public intoxication in Henderson County, Texas. A deportation officer with ICE’s Mobile Criminal Alien Team interviewed Melara-Carcamo and determined that he was an alien from El Salvador, and he allegedly was unlawfully present in the United States. In 2018, the same deportation officer had processed Melara for removal. A records check confirmed that Melara had been previously removed three times to El Salvador in 2007, 2013 and 2018. After each removal, he illegally re-entered the United States.

On March 22, 2019, Special Counsel Robert Mueller concluded his investigation of matters related to Russian attempts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election and submitted his confidential report to me pursuant to Department of Justice regulations.

As I said during my Senate confirmation hearing and since, I am committed to ensuring the greatest possible degree of transparency concerning the Special Counsel’s investigation, consistent with the law.

At 11:00 this morning, I will transmit copies of a public version of the Special Counsel’s report to the Chairmen and Ranking Members of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees. The Department of Justice will also make the report available to the American public by posting it on the Department’s website after it has been delivered to Congress.

I would like to offer a few comments today on the report.

But before I do that, I want to thank Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein for joining me here today and for his assistance and counsel throughout this process. Rod has served the Department of Justice for many years with dedication and distinction, and it has been a great privilege and pleasure to work with him since my confirmation. He had well-deserved plans to step back from public service that I interrupted by asking him to help in my transition. Rod has been an invaluable partner, and I am grateful that he was willing to help me and has been able to see the Special Counsel’s investigation to its conclusion. Thank you, Rod.

Barr said the “investigation did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities“, observing that Trump was “frustrated and angered” by the investigation, the White House cooperated fully, and his lawyers reviewed a redacted version of the report prior to its release.

Martinez Chavez, a Salvadoran national, was deported from the United States in October 2017, after having been convicted in May 2002 of manslaughter in connection with a May 2000 stabbing outside a deli in Huntington, severing victims aorta and causing his death

The defendant has admitted to previously being a member of the MS-13 gang and still has MS-13 tattoos, including on his abdomen and “Mara Salvatrucha” on his chest

The Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Offices for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Alabama today concluded that there is reasonable cause to believe that the conditions in Alabama’s prisons for men violate the Eighth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, for failing to protect the men’s prisons from prisoner-on-prisoner violence and prisoner-on-prisoner sexual abuse, and fail to provide prisoners with safe conditions.

“The Constitution guarantees all prisoners the right to be housed in safe conditions and not be subjected to violence and sexual abuse,” said Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband for the Civil Rights Division.

“Our investigation found reasonable cause to believe that Alabama fails to provide constitutionally adequate conditions and that prisoners experience serious harm, including deadly harm, as a result.”

The Justice Department hopes to work with Alabama to resolve the Department’s concerns.

A new, $68m in new investment from Chevron, Occidental and coal giant BHP received significant scientific endorsement last year with the publication of the IPCC report on keeping the rise in global temperatures to 1.5C this century.

In their “summary for policymakers”, the scientists stated that: “All pathways that limit global warming to 1.5C with limited or no overshoot project the use of CDR …over the 21st century.”

Carbon Engineering says that its direct air capture (DAC) process is now able to capture the gas for under $100 a tonne.
