DENVER — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested an unlawfully present Honduran man charged with sexual assault on a child at Denver International Airport Sept. 4.

In February, Celin Villeda-Orellana, 33, was arrested by the Denver Police Department for sex assault on a child and ICE lodged an immigration detainer Feb. 11 with the Denver Justice Center. The document requested the DJC hold Villeda-Orellana briefly until ICE officers could pick him up prior to any planned release. DJC declined the detainer Feb. 21 and Villeda was released back into the community to reoffend.

“A man charged with hurting a child in such a heinous manner has been released from the Denver Justice Center and was found at the airport. How is it justice to the victims to release these types of criminals to the streets?” said John Fabbricatore, field office director, ERO Denver.

“It is unconscionable to allow people like Villeda to be released and not honor our detainer while he potentially reenters the community to harm another child.”
Villeda was found Thursday at DIA and was arrested as part of Operation Noble Guardian.

Typhoon Haishen was downgraded to a tropical storm but two people remain missing, homes are flooded and power remains cut to thousands of residents in South Korea, with more than 100 homes were destroyed or flooded and 80 fishing boats were sunk, forcing generating turbines at two nuclear reactors in the southeastern city of Gyeongju to a halt automatically. 

In South Korea, at least two people were missing — one after getting swept away by water in a drainage channel at a limestone mine in the eastern town of Samcheok and the other while trying to cross a small river on a tractor in the southeastern town of Uljin.

A group of nine vaccine developers, starting with Pfizer and Merck, with other signatories being industry giants Johnson & Johnson, BioNTech, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Moderna and Novavax, announced a “historic pledge” to uphold scientific and ethical standards in the search for a coronavirus vaccine, saying they would only apply for regulatory approval after vaccines went through three phases of clinical study, a carefully measured statement in the middle of a global debates about the safety of vaccines made this year, following a word from President Trump who has said he wants one available in the US before November’s election.

No vaccine has yet completed clinical trials, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) – leading some scientists to fear the search for a vaccine is being politicized, and public trust could be damaged.

“Together, these nine companies have collectively developed more than 70 novel vaccines that have helped to eradicate some of the world’s most complex and deadly public health threats,” the statement added, as nearly 180 vaccine candidates are being tested around the world, according to the WHO.

In the middle of the ongoing anti-racism demonstrations swarming across the US, video from Pennsylvania over the weekend showed a group of protesters abusing white diners before one protester appears to swipe an elderly couple’s beer, as the President fired a tweet slamming the incident showing the group “harass elderly Pittsburgh diners”, calling them “thugs”.

Footage from the anti-racism demonstrations in Pennsylvania over the weekend appeared to show the group of people shouting expletives at diners on Saturday, with one protester seemingly grabbing an elderly couple’s beer and drinking it.
