The number of Americans filing claims for unemployment benefits exploded to a record high of 6.6 million in the past week, as more States enforced stay-at-home measures to curb the corona-virus pandemic, with 6.6 million people applied for government aid in the past week alone, and 3.3 million people sent in their applications the previous week, as economists predict as many as 20 million jobs will be lost during the virus pandemic.
