Southwest Houston man identified as Marquis Holmes, 28, from Katy, Texas, pleaded  guilty to conspiring to sex traffic three adult women by means of force and violence in Houston and other locations across the country, to one count of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by means of force, fraud and coercion; two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution; and two counts of enticing and coercing another to travel in interstate commerce for prostitution.

From June 2015 until his arrest in March 2018, Holmes scoured social media websites to recruit women, often under false pretenses, to work as prostitutes for him. Under threat of violence and actual violence, Holmes prostituted two of these women in Houston and Austin, Texas; New Orleans, Louisiana; Memphis, Tennessee; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Mississippi; Alabama; South Carolina, and other locations across the country. Holmes coerced the women to pose for pictures used in online ads for sex and to engage in commercial sex acts for money. Holmes collected all the money the women earned.

On March 30, 2018, authorities arrested Holmes, at which time a third victim was rescued along with her infant child. After repeatedly physically assaulting the woman, Holmes forced her to solicit commercial sex dates along the 1.3-mile stretch of Bissonnet St., commonly referred to as “The Track.” If she did not meet the monetary quota Holmes had set, he beat her and deprived her of food.

Holmes has been and will remain in custody pending his sentencing, which is set for Sept. 19. At that time, he faces up to life in prison.

A Dayton, Ohio man was sentenced today in U.S. District Court to 180 months in prison and 25 years of supervised release for attempting, and conspiring, to join the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS).  

Laith Waleed Alebbini, 28, was convicted following a bench trial in November and December 2018 before U.S. District Judge Walter H. Rice, for attempting, and conspiring, to provide material support and resources to ISIS in the form of personnel, namely himself.

“Alebbini was determined to travel overseas for the purpose of joining ISIS and engaging in violence in support of the foreign terrorist organization,” said Assistant Attorney General Demers. 

“Notwithstanding pleas from others close to him, Alebbini declared that he is a terrorist and decided to move forward with his plan to join ISIS.  Thanks to the great work of the agents, analysts, and prosecutors who are assigned to this case, Alebbini’s plans were thwarted and he is being held accountable for his crimes.”

The US military has released a video which it says shows Iranian special forces removing an unexploded mine from the side of an oil tanker damaged in an attack in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday, after a Norwegian tanker in the gulf also reported being hit by three blasts.

The US accused Iran of being behind the attacks, but Iran said it “categorically” rejected the allegation, a month after four oil tankers were damaged in an attack off the coast of the United Arab Emirates.

 Gloudina and Chantelle Robbertse used commercial mailboxes set up in California and Idaho to receive the debit card, and Gloudina pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft on December 6, 2018.

Gloudina Robbertse, 50, of Meridian, Idaho, was sentenced to 54 months in federal prison for filing false claims for disability benefits with the California Employment Disability Department (CEDD). 

Her daughter, Chantelle Robbertse, 24, a co-defendant in the case, was sentenced to 24 months for her role in the fraud scheme.

Once the claims were approved by the CEDD, a debit card was issued in the name of the claimants being impersonated.

Dozens of crew members were rescued after abandoning two commercial oil tankers hit by explosions in the Gulf of Oman, with Iran saying it has “no connection” to the explosions,  and that “Somebody is trying to destabilize relations between Iran and the international community,” according to an official statement by the Islamic Republic.

The US disputed this, saying its Navy had rescued some of those aboard, and Wu I-fang, a spokesman for Taiwan’s CPC Corp oil refiner, which chartered the Front Altair, said it was carrying 75,000 tonnes of naphtha and was “suspected of being hit by a torpedo”, although this has not been confirmed.

Oil prices jumped as much as 4% after Thursday’s incident.

While “Deep State” is working 25/8/385 to impeach a democratically elected and highly accomplished US President Trump, forcing him and his supporters into street by street battle for survival, nine scientific experiments from across the world have been accepted to be conducted on board the upcoming China Space Station (CSS), the United Nations and China announced here on Wednesday.

The six fully and three conditionally accepted experiments involve 23 entities from 17 countries, emerging from 42 proposals tabled by 27 countries.

 The CSS is expected to be operational around 2022.

The selected experiments come from both developed and developing countries, such as France, Germany and Japan, as well as Kenya and Peru, and cover a broad range of scientific subjects, including Earth observation, solar cells, space life sciences and biotechnolog”We aim at helping developing countries bridge the technological gap and realize space access and exploration,” said Wang Qun, Chinese envoy to the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna.

“Today we are pleased to see that scientists from different countries, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds will conduct space scientific experiments aboard the CSS,” said CMSA Director General Hao Chun.
