Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte apparently has decided to severe the long term mutual defense agreement with the US, by ordering his top diplomat to inform the United States Government that they are scrapping a military pact which permits US military presence in the country, a new a dangerous step in reshaping the relationship between the two historically close allies.

“I talked to him this morning. I asked him, ‘Mr. President, Teddyboy is saying you don’t have any instruction to write the notice of termination’” Top diplomat Mr.Panelo said in a phone interview.

“I’ll instruct the executive secretary to tell him (Locsin) to send the notice of termination to the US government”, he said, quoting the president.

He insisted on Twitter that Duterte had the sole authority to terminate the deal.

An American and a Japanese citizen died after suffering corona-virus symptoms, marking the first non-Chinese deaths since the outbreak began, as global health authorities have reported 34,800 cases of corona-virus worldwide, with the overwhelming majority of cases are in mainland China, where there are confirmed 34,546 infections.

The virus has killed 722 people in China, including two foreigners,  most of the deaths have been in the central Hubei province, where the virus was first detected.

A second makeshift hospital opened in Wuhan, the city at the center of the corona-virus outbreak, with the Leishenshan hospital having 32 wards with a total of 1,500 beds and a surgical operating room, the first medical crew to arrive Saturday morning, and patients are due to follow later in the day.

The city is rapidly converting buildings into hospitals to deal with the high number of corona-virus infections, as the first provisional hospital with 1,000 beds had opened on Monday after a rapid, 10-day construction phase.

A soldier has killed 20 people and injured dozens more in a gun rampage in the Thai city of Nakhon Ratchasima, as gunshots rang, and people were running through the shopping center.

Jakraphanth Thomma, a junior officer, killed his commanding officer before stealing weapons from a military camp, then continued his attack in a shopping center, where he is now believed to be holed up, initially posting updates on his social media.

Security forces are inside the complex, after having rescued hundreds of people while searching for the gunman.

Authorities sealed off the Terminal 21 shopping center in Nakhon Ratchasima, also known as Korat, on Saturday evening, and troops and police officers entered in order to search for the suspect and help those trapped inside, with ambulances brought up to the complex to ferry away the injured.

Officers with ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) arrested an aggravated felon and immigration fugitive, identified as Yoni Cruz-Lopez, 24, a resident of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, and a citizen of Guatemala, at Union Station after he was released from an Illinois Department of Corrections jail despite an ICE detainer on file.

“I want the public to know that this is an example of the type of dangerous person sanctuary policies protect – an aggravated felon,” said Mr.Robert Guadian, field office director for ERO Chicago.

“This targeted enforcement action was made in one of the country’s busiest transit terminals, possibly putting commuters and travelers at risk. This arrest should have been made in the secure confines of a jail.”

Late last month, IDOC cut off all communication with ICE and refuses to turn over convicted felons. ICE believes local law enforcement’s cooperation with ICE is crucial in promoting public safety.

These dangerous policies (sanctuary policies) leave ICE with no choice, but to increase enforcement to effect arrests to include neighborhoods and public places.
