ICE officers concluded operation “Eagle’s Shield”, targeting notable threats to public safety throughout Virginia and Washington, D.C. that resulted in the arrests of 132 individuals on criminal and civil violations.
Operation Eagle’s Shield targeted and arrested various violent offenders, gang members, sex offenders, fugitives from justice, and those who otherwise pose a significant public safety threat. Arrestees include members of several different notoriously violent transnational criminal organizations such as MS-13 and18th Street gangs.
“We set out to locate and detain known, dangerous criminal aliens who are hiding and operating in the neighborhoods we call home,” said ERO Washington field office director Russell Hott. “Today’s announcement is the result of the absolutely essential work our ICE officers perform to identify the worst of the worst and ensure they have no refuge here.”
The arrestees (131 men and 1 woman) included nationals from the following 13 countries: Bolivia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Fiji, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Mongolia, Peru, Philippines, South Africa and Sudan.

ICE announced the results of a two-phase nationwide operation in which I-9 audit notices were served to more than 5,200 businesses around the country since January, serving notices of inspection (NOI) informing business owners that ICE is going to audit their hiring records to determine whether they are complying with existing law.
HSI served 2,738 NOIs and made 32 arrests, while during the first phase of the operation, it served 2,540 NOIs and made 61 arrests.
“This is not a victimless crime,” said Derek N. Benner, Acting Executive Associate Director for HSI.
“Unauthorized workers often use stolen identities of legal U.S. workers, which can significantly impact the identity theft victim’s credit, medical records and other aspects of their everyday life.”

Trolling is a slang for someone who sows discord or upsets others with their post on social media.
Ryan said that the issue of revocation is within the purview of the executive branch and not something that involves Congress.
