DENVER — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested an unlawfully present Honduran man charged with sexual assault on a child at Denver International Airport Sept. 4.

In February, Celin Villeda-Orellana, 33, was arrested by the Denver Police Department for sex assault on a child and ICE lodged an immigration detainer Feb. 11 with the Denver Justice Center. The document requested the DJC hold Villeda-Orellana briefly until ICE officers could pick him up prior to any planned release. DJC declined the detainer Feb. 21 and Villeda was released back into the community to reoffend.

“A man charged with hurting a child in such a heinous manner has been released from the Denver Justice Center and was found at the airport. How is it justice to the victims to release these types of criminals to the streets?” said John Fabbricatore, field office director, ERO Denver.

“It is unconscionable to allow people like Villeda to be released and not honor our detainer while he potentially reenters the community to harm another child.”
Villeda was found Thursday at DIA and was arrested as part of Operation Noble Guardian.

No vaccine has yet completed clinical trials, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) – leading some scientists to fear the search for a vaccine is being politicized, and public trust could be damaged.

“Together, these nine companies have collectively developed more than 70 novel vaccines that have helped to eradicate some of the world’s most complex and deadly public health threats,” the statement added, as nearly 180 vaccine candidates are being tested around the world, according to the WHO.

FORT MYERS, Florida – A Fort Myers-area narcotics enforcement task force announced 41 arrests, the seizure of nearly $650,000 worth of illegal drugs and more than $350,000 cash from illicit drug sales at a Thursday news conference:

“The success of this operation highlights the importance of law enforcement partnerships across the spectrum,” said HSI Tampa Acting Deputy Special Agent in Charge Micah McCombs. “We are proud to be part of the team making our communities safer.”
The investigation initially began in the City of Fort Myers and focused on identifying and eradicating major narcotics suppliers within the city. During the investigation, law enforcement identified multiple individuals allegedly responsible for the distribution of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine within the city, and throughout Lee County.

As the investigation progressed, the Fort Myers Police Department identified targets that were also distributing narcotics in Collier County. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office then began a parallel investigation to identify and dismantle the drug trafficking operation that was operating within Collier County. During its investigation, the sheriff’s office identified numerous individuals allegedly responsible for the large-scale distribution of many narcotics, including cocaine, heroin, and marijuana.

Jerusalem’s Hadassah hospital has been recruiting recovered Covid-19 patients to volunteer inside its coronavirus wards to help patients there.

Under the pilot scheme, they visit patients in moderate or serious condition, who would otherwise be in isolation. The volunteers help the patients eat or just lend a listening ear.

The hospital believes the project to be the first of its kind in the world. And it is likely to be closely watched, given the still unclear science on how much antibody immunity recovered Covid-19 patients have.

Texan boat enthusiasts who took to Lake Travis this weekend to support President Trump’s 2020 campaign, had an unpleasant surprise waiting for them at the water, as several vessels sank after getting caught up in choppy waters.

Travis Country Sheriff’s Office, whose deputies patrol the lake, said they responded to “multiple calls” from vessels in distress and that “several boats did sink.”

“We had an exceptional number of boats on the lake today,” sheriff office spokeswoman Kristen Dark told the Associated Press. “When they all started moving at once it generated wakes.”

No evidence of sabotage:
“Some were taking on water, some were stalled, some were capsizing,” she said, adding that there was no evidence of any intentional sabotage.”

Three Peruvian men have been sentenced to significant terms of incarceration for operating a large fraud and extortion scheme, by means of managing and operating call centers based in Lima and Cajamarca, Peru, which used government impersonation, lies, and threats to steal money from thousands of Spanish-speaking victims in the United States.

U.S. District Judge Robert N. Scola sentenced Johnny Enso Hidalgo Marchan, 40, of Lima, Peru, to 100 months in federal prison for his role overseeing one of the Peruvian call centers.

“We are committed to pursuing transnational criminals who defraud U.S. consumers,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Ethan P. Davis of the Justice Department’s Civil Division. “Disrupting transnational elder fraud schemes is an Agency Priority Goal for the Department of Justice. These prison sentences show that criminals responsible for threatening and defrauding U.S. consumers will be held to account.”

“Individuals who defraud American consumers will be brought to justice, no matter where they are located,” said U.S. Attorney Fajardo Orshan of the Southern District of Florida. “Protecting the elderly and vulnerable members of our community from schemes, such as this one, is a top priority of this Office and the Department of Justice.”

“The U.S. Postal Inspection Service will continue to aggressively investigate and go after those who deprive citizens of their hard earned money through the use of threats and other abusive tactics. The results of this investigation are an example of this determination and the dedicated partnership established with the Department of Justice’s Consumer Protection Branch,” said Inspector in Charge Antonio Gomez.

Results from trials in Russia have shown a potential vaccine has produced an antibody response in participants of a preliminary trial, while 3,000 have been recruited for a further study, after it licensed the two-shot procedure for domestic use in August, the first country to do so, and before any data had been published or a large-scale trial started.

Researchers said longer and larger trials were needed to prove the vaccine would be safe and effective, since part of the safety trial included only men and the study mostly involved people in their 20s and 30s, so it is unclear how the vaccine might work in older populations most at risk of the more severe complications of COVID-19.

“We are ready to assert that the protective effect of this vaccine will be detectable and remain at a proper level for two years, or maybe even more,” said Professor Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Moscow-based institute that developed the vaccine.
