AG William Barr and multiple law enforcement partners announced the largest coordinated sweep of elder fraud cases in history, surpassing last year’s nationwide sweep, with the cases during this sweep involved more than 260 defendants from around the globe who victimized more than two million Americans, most of them elderly.

The Department took action in every federal district across the country, through the filing of criminal or civil cases or through consumer education efforts, and in each case, offenders allegedly engaged in financial schemes that targeted or largely affected seniors.

In total, the charged elder fraud schemes caused losses of millions of more dollars than last year, putting the total alleged losses at this year’s sweep at over three fourths of one billion dollars.

“But thanks to the hard work of our agents and prosecutors, as well as our state and local partners, the Department of Justice is protecting our seniors from fraud. I want to thank the Department’s Consumer Protection Branch, which led this effort, together with the Department’s Criminal Division, the more than 50 U.S. Attorneys’ offices, and the state and local partners who helped to make these results possible. The world’s most expensive car, the sleek, jet-black supercar loaded with a 1,500-horsepower, eight-liter, 16-cylinder engine, encased within a carbon fibre body Bugatti La Voiture Noire, was unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show, where it was sold to a mystery buyer for the ridiculously low price of $27 million.

The company has not released more specifics about the engine, though it is believed to be identical to that of its turbocharged Chiron model, and described the new model Bugatti as “the highest level of automotive haute couture one can reach” and company president Stephan Winkelmann said the car combined “extraordinary technology, aesthetics and extreme luxury.”

Made to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the company, the vehicle will be the only one of its kind ever produced, and is a homage to the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, since only four Atlantics were made between 1936 and 1938.

Fashion icon Ralph Lauren is the owner of the last one built.

Jay Barrett, American man with cystic fibrosis currently receiving palliative care got the surprise of his life speaking to President Trump during a surprise phone call arranged by his sister, a Democratic councillor, and hundreds of people emailed the President asking him to contact Mr. Barrett.

In a video of the call posted to Facebook, Mr. Trump said: “All right, Jay, you look handsome to me. I just saw a picture of you.”

Mr. Barrett responded: “Oh, you’re giving me kind honours. I look like s***”

Mr. Trump then called Mr Barrett “a champ” and asked him: “You’re fighting it, right?”

“That’s what the Irish do, right?” Mr Barrett answered, to which Mr Trump replied:

“Yeah that’s what the Irish do, you better believe it,” before inviting him to a rally.

A French-born jihadist Mehdi Nemmouche, 33, born into a family of Algerian origin in the northern Islamic Sheikdom of France town of Roubaix and previously known to French authorities, opened fire with a Kalashnikov assault rifle and a handgun at the city’s Jewish Museum, killing three people died at the scene and one died later in hospital.

A man who helped plan the attack and provided the weapons, Nacer Bendrer, was also found guilty of murder.

Nemmouche served five years in prison for robbery, then spent a year fighting in Syria for the Islamic State group, and was now found guilty in the anti-Semitic attack in Brussels in May 2014.

Sentencing will be announced at a later date.
