Saudi Arabia, an absolute monarchy, bans most political activity and brooks little public criticism of the Government or the Al Saud ruling family.

President Donald Trump has called for comedian Samantha Bee to be fired for insulting his daughter Ivanka with an obscene phrase on her television show.

Bee used an offensive slur when attacking Ms. Trump over the Trump administration’s immigration policy.

Mr. Trump called it a “double standard” that her show was not canceled like Roseanne Barr, who lost her sitcom after she posted a racist tweet.

Bee has apologized, saying she “crossed a line” with the vulgar phrase.

“It’s a sad day for international trade,” said Mexico economy secretary Ildefonso Guajardo, describing the United States’ announcement of metal tariffs against its trade partners as “completely incomprehensible,” since his country actually buys more U.S. steel than it exports to that country.

Although the U.S. has said the tariffs are being applied for national security reasons, the economy secretary argued that steel and aluminum are integral supplies in highly integrated strategic sectors of the North American economy, such as the automotive, aerospace, electric and electronic industries.

As Mexico announced tariffs on U.S. goods in retaliation, the EU promised to do the same with European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker described the tariffs as “unjustified,” and said it would hit back with its own tariffs and take the issue to the World Trade Organization.

“This is protectionism, pure and simple,” he said.

The United Kingdom’s trade secretary said the tariffs were “patently absurd.”

 A leaked report, obtained by Las Vegas’s KLAS tv station, tells how the USS Princeton, a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, had multiple radar contacts with what it dubbed an “Anomalous Aerial Vehicle” (AAV), a supersonic UFO stalking a U.S. aircraft carrier for days before vanishing into thin air. 


The object, which could reportedly hover in midair and make itself invisible, taunted U.S. Navy fighter pilots during a training exercise in the Pacific Ocean,
as the ship’s ultra-advanced AN/SPY-1 multifunctional phased-array radar caught the object hovering at 60,000 feet before nosediving to the ocean surface in a matter of seconds, and then sped off so rapidly that crew members thought it was a ballistic missile.

It appeared again two days later, and a pair of high-tech F-18 jets were scrambled to intercept it, but pilots reported that the object had turned itself invisible.

It could still be detected as it was triggering a circular disturbance in the water “about 50 to 100 meters in diameter.”

The craft was described as “solid white, smooth, with no edges… uniformly colored with no nacelles, pylons or wings”, and looked like “an elongated egg or Tic Tac,” according to one of the pilots.

The Rohingya crisis has reached “unprecedented proportions” in recent months with hundreds of thousands of people in need of humanitarian assistance, as the European Commission released $47 million in humanitarian aid for Bangladesh and Myanmar.

“Our emergency aid will deliver essential supplies such as food, clean water, and healthcare as well as support for the monsoon season,” said Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides.

The Rohingya refugee camps are extremely vulnerable to the flash flooding and mud landslides triggered by the ongoing monsoon season, which typically lasts until October and could put 200,000 lives at risk.

“Another $8 million will be used to scale up preparedness measures for the rainy season, which could trigger floods and landslides in what is currently the most densely populated refugee camp in the world. €4 million will go for Rohingya and host communities in Myanmar’s Rakhine State and provide protection, shelter, health, water, sanitation, food and psychosocial support,” it added.

Persecution of Rohingya is well documented, with at least 9,400 Rohingya were killed in Rakhine from Aug. 25 to Sept. 24 last year, and UN has records of mass gang rapes, killings — including of infants and young children — brutal beatings, and disappearances committed by security personnel, violations may have constituted crimes against humanity.

While it’s not clear how powerful the laser beam is on the military and civilian versions of the “Silent Killer”, US DOD has accused Chinese personnel of firing lasers at American military pilots near China’s naval base in Djibouti. “There have been two minor injuries,” Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said May 3, adding that “they are very serious incidents.”

Two Lake County, Indiana men, identified as Darrick Vallodolid aka Deuce, 28, of Hobart, Indiana and Robert Nieto aka Cowboy, 44, of Gary, Indiana,

Christmas Island’s main employer, the Phosphate Resources Limited that has been mining in the Indian Ocean Territory for more than 100 years, is now claiming it needs to clear more crown land to access new deposits in order for the operations to remain viable, suffering a setback after a proposal to expand the island’s phosphate mine was knocked back over fears of the impact to the island’s wildlife, including its world-famous red crabs.


Under the expansion, the company wanted to clear an additional 6.83 hectares of land to undertake exploration drilling to determine the extent of more phosphate resources, in what has been described as a pristine area of the island.

“There is also a very real threat that this pattern of clearing would allow the introduction of aggressive weed species with the capacity to overwhelm native vegetation and to alter the structure of the surrounding forest,” Environment Minister Josh Frydenberg said in a statement.

“Environmental damage on small islands has a far greater impact because of its limited capacity to recover from declines in biodiversity caused by the cumulative effects of land clearing,” he said.
