HOUSTON – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Houston announced Wednesday the results of a recent enforcement action targeting criminal aliens who are alleged to have illegally reentered the United States after having previously been removed.

From Nov. 1, 2020, through Dec. 31, 2020, ERO Houston arrested nine criminal aliens in the greater Houston area after securing criminal arrest warrants for illegal reentry.

An alien who illegally re-enters the United States after having been previously deported commits a federal offense, which is punishable by up to 20 years in federal prison, if convicted.

In addition to their prior immigration-related offenses, all nine of the individuals arrested had previously been convicted of other criminal offenses and several are documented gang members.

General James Mattis resigned from his post as secretary of defense in late 2018 after the president called him the “world’s most overrated general,” and said he “should have fired him sooner” after the former Marine Corps general urged Joe Biden to abandon Trump’s “America First” strategy, and now the former Pentagon chief James “Mad Dog” issued a scathing attack against his former boss, blaming him for this week violence at the US Capitol, which led protesters storming the compound and seizing the Senate chamber as Congress moved to formally certify the Electoral College results confirming Biden’s victory.

“Today’s violent assault on our Capitol, an effort to subjugate American democracy by mob rule, was fomented by Mr. Trump. His use of the Presidency to destroy trust in our election and to poison our respect for fellow citizens has been enabled by pseudo political leaders whose names will live in infamy as profiles in cowardice,” Mattis said in a press statement. 

“Our Constitution and our Republic will overcome this stain and We the People will come together again in our never-ending effort to form a more perfect Union, while Mr. Trump will deservedly be left a man without a country,” the retired general suggested.

Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser said one of the four who died – a woman named as Ashli Babbitt – was part of a group that forced entry into the chamber of the House of Representatives while it was still in session. They were confronted by plainclothes officers, and an officer pulled out a weapon and fired it.

Fresno police have responded to shots fired inside the Fashion Fair Mall on Saturday afternoon at around 3:50 p.m., local time, after shots were fired between two people at the Fashion Fair Mall, but there are no victims, and investigators said that there is no longer an active shooter situation, but there is heavy police presence on scene, and officers are still looking for suspects.

Police are reportedly working to evacuate people from the mall, which is now closed, and a man was handcuffed in the parking lot.

The United Kingdom has recorded more new coronavirus infections in a single day than ever before for a fifth consecutive day, registering more than 57,700 cases within 24 hours, with many of those cases are attributed to a strain of the virus that appears to be more contagious and is particularly rampant in London, as 445 virus-related deaths were also recorded across the UK, which has announced a death toll of over 82,600 since the start of the pandemic.
