Meet the architect reviving a classic Filipino building aesthetic – and another whose ultra-modern design turns balconies into typhoon-ready rafts.

2…………> “Obama Boys Evacuate Damascus”: Syria

“At dawn, six buses of IS fighters and their relatives left the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp and adjacent district of al-Tadamon,” said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Observatory, which is monitoring the Syrian conflict via a network of activists in the country.

Rahman said the vehicles headed east of Syria’s vast desert, where IS still holds some territory. The number of people that left the Damascus enclave is not clear.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights noted that at least 250 pro-regime fighters and some 233 Islamic State militants aka “Obama Boys” had been killed during the month-long assault.

3…………> Magma Flow: Kilauea

Hawaii’s Kilauea lava sent hydrochloric acid and steam with glass particles into air reached the sea, injured a man on the third-floor balcony as
the volcano was spewing and exploding on Hawaii’s Big Island has become more hazardous, with rivers of molten rock flowing into the ocean and flying lava causing the first major injury.

Erupting for more than two weeks and having burned dozens of homes, forcing people to flee and shot up plumes of steam from its summit that led officials to distribute face masks to protect against ash particles.

Two fissures had merged, creating a wide flow moving at up to 900 feet per hour.

4………..> Call Me “Mr. Flexible”: President Trump

“The two leaders will work closely and unwaveringly for the successful hosting of the North Korea-US summit set on June 12, including the upcoming South Korea-US summit,” a presidential spokesperson said that Mr. Trump remains confident his meeting with Kim Jong-un will go ahead in June after over 20 minutes conversation on the phone with South Korea’s President Moon, exchanging their views on North Korea’s recent reactions.

Further dampening the mood, a spokesman for North Korea’s Red Cross Society demanded that South Korea’s Government should send North Korean female restaurant workers back to their home “without delay” to show the will to improve the inter-Korean ties, the North’s Korea Central News agency said.

“It is also to pressure the Moon Government to agree to its demand so that South Korea can keep up the momentum for the North Korea-US summit meeting,” Mr. Lee said.

5…………> Painted Slims: Mumbai

Indian artist Rouble Nagi, 38, started visiting slums in her hometown to give children art classes — but she soon realized she could give a lot more.

“When I go to these areas to teach art, I thought, if I’m not bringing art to their lives, then what am I doing?” she said after having a vision of transforming the city’s waterfront slums into giant works of art, the very slums of Mumbai that are home to millions of people, but regarded as eyesores in India’s glitziest city.

Now, with hundreds of volunteers, her foundation has been painting and beautifying slums all over the city, clean up mountains of rubbish scattered along the beachfront villages, and even planning to install toilets and run hygiene campaigns.

Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano erupted on Thursday, sending ash 30,000 feet (9,144 meters) into the sky.

2…………> “Money, Give Me A Lots Of Money”: Comrade Un

In a clear sign that the widely expected “miracle” of “The Art Of The Deal” Korean peninsula de-nuclearization” breakthrough by President Trump may have been grossly overstated,  DPRK chief negotiator accused the South Korean authorities of being incompetent and senseless, expressing his country angry at continuing US-South Korea “provocative” joint military exercises, and put in doubt the planned talks between President Trump and North Korean leader Comrade Un.

Reading between the lines, the demand of economic guarantees in addition to political and military “give and take agreements” means that the US and its allies must be ready to put massive amounts of cash to revitalize and rebuild North Korea: i.e. pay another ransom like former Presidents did, in other words, this is yet a “shake-down” designed by ever cunning real master of the peninsula Mr.Xi to gain time, get rid of President Trump, and be paid handsomely along the way.

3…………> “Dark Net” Monster: Latvia

A federal jury convicted a  Latvian man identified as  Ruslans Bondars, 37,  a non-citizen of the former USSR who had been hiding in Riga, Latvia, of three counts related to his operation of “Scan4you,” an online counter antivirus service that helped computer hackers to determine whether the computer viruses and other malicious software they created would be detected by antivirus software.

He was convicted after a five-day jury trial of one count of conspiracy to violate the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and one count of computer intrusion with intent to cause damage and aiding and abetting.

“Ruslans Bondars helped hackers test and improve the malware they then used to inflict hundreds of millions of dollars in losses on American companies and consumers,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Cronan.

“Today’s verdict should serve as a warning to those who aid and abet criminal hackers: the Criminal Division and our law enforcement partners consider you to be just as culpable as the hackers whose crimes you enable—and we will work tirelessly to identify you, prosecute you, and seek stiff sentences that reflect the seriousness of your crimes.”

4…………> The Man With “Steel Smile”: Mr.Xi

Since last spring, Chinese authorities in the heavily Muslim region of Xinjiang have imprisoned tens, possibly hundreds of thousands of Muslim Chinese — and even foreign citizens — in mass internment camps.

US State Department estimates detainees “at the very least in the tens of thousands”, with detainees who most vigorously criticise the people and things they love are rewarded, and those who refuse are punished with solitary confinement, beatings, and food deprivation.

This detention campaign has swept across Xinjiang in what a US commission on China last month said was “the largest mass incarceration of a minority population in the world today”.

The US State Department estimated those being held were “at the very least in the tens of thousands”.

A Turkey-based TV station run by Xinjiang exiles said almost 900,000 were detained, citing leaked government documents.

5…………> A House Of Horrors: CA Style

In yet another horror story coming to you courtesy of the “Hippie Communist State” of California, ten children rescued from a Solano County home were punched, kicked, strangled, shot with a BB gun and subjected to waterboarding by their father, as their mother did nothing to stop it, with torture being carried out “for sadistic purposes”.

The father, Jonathan Allen, 29, pleaded not guilty to nine counts of child abuse and seven counts of torture, and the children’s mother, Ina Rogers, 31, was charged with nine counts of child abuse.

She also faces one count of child neglect involving all 10 children.

1…………> Dialog & Dialog: Mr.Xi

Despite China’s President Mr.Xi expressed hope that his nephew Comrade Un proceeds with the historic summit with President Trump, the North’s threatened to scrap the meeting, dashing hopes of the “Fake News” media to see the two leaders holding hands under the misty Singapore moonlight, ushering a new era of the nuke-free world.

DRPK First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye Gwan said North Korea has no interest in a ‘one-sided’ summit with the US, and the summit would only go ahead if the US came ‘with a truthful intent to improve relations’

“We support the improvement of North-South [Korean] relations, the promotion of dialogue between North Korea and the US, denuclearisation on the peninsula and North Korea’s development of its economy and improvement of its people’s livelihood,” Mr. Xi was quoted as saying by state broadcaster CCTV.

2…………> “I Wouldn’t Know”: Trump Jr.

President Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. told the Senate Judiciary Committee he could not remember whether he had discussed the Russia investigation with his father and did not think there was anything wrong with attending Trump Tower meeting that is under scrutiny in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

The more than 1,800 pages of transcripts of interviews last year with president’s son and others who met with a Russian attorney at Trump Tower ahead of the 2016 election have been described as a “witch hunt”, designed to demean, offend and ultimately impeach Mr. Trump.

In a new wave of saber-rattling by PLA Airforce, squadrons of China latest stealth fighters and other advanced aircraft are seen in a “promotional” video nearby the Taiwan Strait. Or is a thinly disguised threat to the US and its Pacific Rim allies?

4…………>  Kilauea Alert: Stay Out

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has flashed an aviation red alert for the first time for the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii as explosions intensified,  spewing ash and smog, or vog, as it is known, in the latest activity since the eruption began 12 days ago.

An aviation red alert from the USGS means a volcanic eruption is underway that could spew ash along aircraft routes.

5…………> “Zieg Ustasha”: Croat Fascists

At the annual memorial mass in Bleiburg, in the Austrian province of Carinthia, a gathering intended to celebrate the memories of the tens of thousands of militia members, regime sympathizers and civilians who were killed by Communist forces at the end of World War II, newly minted pink cheeks, goose-stepping Neo-Nazis thugs glorified the murderous ideologies from World War II — especially of Croatia’s fascist Ustasha regime, which fought alongside Nazi Germany.

The leader of the pro-Nazi Croatian Party of Rights sent a message with “blatantly hateful expressions” to the director of the memorial site to the World War II concentration camp in Jasenovac, where the majority of victims were Serbs.

1…………..> “Soft Drug Dealers”: Shut Down

The Drug Enforcement Administration today announced the issuance of an Immediate Suspension Order served on Morris & Dickson Company, a wholesale pharmaceutical distributor, located in Shreveport, Louisiana, after an  investigation alleged that this distribution center failed to properly identify large suspicious orders for controlled substances sold to independent pharmacies with a questionable need for the drugs, primarily on purchases of Oxycodone and Hydrocodone.

A further review revealed that in some cases, pharmacies were allowed to purchase as much as six times the quantity of narcotics the pharmacy would normally order. In spite of regulations which require distributors to identify such orders, DEA alleges that Morris & Dickson Company failed to identify these large suspicious orders resulting in millions of dosage units of Oxycodone and Hydrocodone being distributed in violation of the law.

“Opioid distributors have a legal obligation not to facilitate the illicit diversion of drugs,” said Attorney General Jeff Sessions. “That obligation has never been more important than it is right now as we face the deadliest drug crisis in American history. According to the allegations, many large suspicious orders for opioids were made, filled, and unreported by Morris and Dickson. We can only imagine how many pills were diverted, abused, and how many addictions began as a result. Today’s suspension will help us achieve the President’s goals of reducing opioid prescriptions in the United States and stopping the spread of addiction. I want to thank the DEA for their vigilance, for all of their hard work. The Justice Department will continue to use suspensions, deregistrations, and every other tool we have to stop the drug epidemic.”

2…………> Watch Out, Assad: Israel Warning

In the boiling war of words and deeds against Syria, Israel’s Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz warned that Mr. Assad may find himself in Israel’s sights.

“If Assad allows Iran to turn Syria into a military vanguard against us, to attack us from Syrian territory, he should know that would be the end of him, the end of his regime,” Mr. Steinitz told the Ynet news site.

Asked if that meant Israel might assassinate Mr. Assad, Mr. Steinitz said: “His blood would be forfeit.”

Israel could respond to any Iranian attack on it from Syria by toppling Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government, a hint that Mr. Assad himself may be targeted for assassination.
