Thousands of Muslims from China’s Uighur minority group are working under threat of violence in deplorable conditions at factories that supply some of the world’s biggest brands, as about a million Uighurs are held against their will in  internment camps, punishing and indoctrinating them with a goal at countering extremism.
The human-rights group ASPI estimates that more than 80,000 Uighurs were transferred out of the far western Xinjiang autonomous region to work in factories across the country, some directly from detention camps.
ASPI said the Uighurs were moved through labour transfer scams operating under a central government policy known as Xinjiang Aid, with  evidence that local governments and private brokers being paid a price per head to organize the”chain gangs”, all being a new phase of the Chinese governments ongoing repression” of Uighurs.
Reports of widespread detentions at internment camps in Xinjiang first emerged in 2018. Chinese authorities said the “vocational training centers” were being used to combat violent religious extremism, but soon evidence surfaced that  many people were being detained for simply expressing their faith, by praying or wearing a veil, or for having overseas connections to places like Turkey.

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) may be about to close down its trading floor in Manhattan, under pressure due to the sharp escalation of the novel corona-virus , with major networks suggesting that the world’s stock market hub is “beginning to prepare for the possibility that the floor might not be able to open”.

This is apparently a “Plan B” should  floor traders, brokers, and the designated market makers can’t make it in because they have to stay home, while at the same time humans and an automated trading system are prepped for the eventuality.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 357 points, or 1.4%, to 25,409, while the S&P 500 shrank by 24 points, or 0.8%, to 2,954. Earlier, the Nasdaq Composite fell by 414.30 points.
